Christina Tosi's Milk Bar Cookies Review

Christina Tosi’s Milk Bar is infamous for the playfully approachable spin they put on the nostalgic desserts we all know and love. Desserts that simultaneously create Instagram worthy moments while making our taste buds pop like 4th of July firecrackers as we are transported into a time machine to when we had no worries in the world.

Now, here’s the point in the post where I have to get real- I have never eaten at an actual Milk Bar location, although I did pass it at The Cosmopolitan on my way to another restaurant with family. I can, however, attest to the fact that there was a line so the dessert options in-store are probably the bomb.com.

Now, that we’ve gotten that brief disclaimer out of the way let’s talk about the Milk Bar selection at Target. During my most recent Target trip, I grabbed the three Milk Bar cookies that were available to purchase.

Here are my thoughts:

Milk Bar “Cornflake, Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow Cookies”

My first thought of these cookies was, “well that’s an interesting mix of ingredients for a cookie”. Chocolate Chips in a cookie are not abnormal but adding cornflakes and marshmallows kind of make me feel like it was just thrown together. But, in this case… “thrown together” kind of works. After looking at other Milk Bar dessert options I quickly noticed that Tosi mixes ingredients you would’ve never thought to put together to make something- magical.

I would rate the Milk Bar “Cornflake, Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow Cookies” a 7/10. They didn’t do much for me, but I also didn’t dislike them. I wish they had more marshmallows. Josiah (my lively 3-year-old) thought they were amazing.

Milk Bar “Confetti Cookies”

This particular cookie was the most basic of ingredient options at Target. The Milk Bar “Confetti Cookie” was giving me birthday cake/sugar cookie vibes in a tiny store-bought package. As someone who is not the biggest fan of either sugar cookies or birthday cake, this cookie did nothing for me. However, if I were to rate it-which I am, I would rate this cookie 8/10. It was sweet and flavorful in that buttery cookie kind of way.

Milk Bar “Compost Cookies”

The Milk Bar “Compost Cookies” were the cookies I was most looking forward to trying. I’d heard of these cookies on the internet before and was excited to get my hands on them. Composed of potato chips, pretzels, chocolate chips, butterscotch, coffee, oats, and graham crackers, I would’ve thought that these cookies would be a time machine in a little foil packet.

I was right.

Milk Bar’s “Compost Cookies” were the perfect blend of sweet and salty that I enjoy in desserts while still being interesting because of the compound of ingredients in the cookie. I’m giving these cookies a 8/10 because I wish they were bigger so that the ingredients could be more even distributed.

All in All…

Overall, I/we (I have to include Josiah) enjoyed trying Milk Bar’s Cookies from Target. They retail for $4.99 and you get 4 packs of cookies with two cookies in each pack. I wouldn’t say that they are pricey, I think that depends on what you think is an acceptable amount to pay for something like this. I do wish that the cookies were a little bigger in size, and I want to find more cookie options to try so I will be looking for them in other stores.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and that you found it helpful.
