“Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway 2020 Review

It’s officially Christmas time (my favorite time of the year), which means BLOGMAS (which I just decided to commit to an hour ago- since we’re being real) LOL. I’m kicking off my first ever Blogmas with a review of Las Vegas’s “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out some COVID safe activities that we can do as a family this Holiday Season, because after all Josiah is three and he understands what time of the year it is, and like I mentioned earlier I love Christmas time, and we would like to have some seasonal fun while being as safe as possible. This year my husband and I are committing (last minute albeit) to creating some of our own Christmas memories and traditions. I grew up in a family that always celebrated Christmas, we would drive around looking at Christmas lights that people put on their houses and attempt to make the most God-Awful gingerbread houses known to man- it’s the thought that counts right? Since I had holiday experiences that I cherished, I want to make sure Josiah has some experiences of his own to look back on as he becomes an adult.

Now, while this was our second year driving through the annual Las Vegas attraction, this year was a little different and a bit more exciting because Josiah is officially three years old and has more awareness of the season we are in as well as his surroundings than he did last year.

fun fact: Las Vegas’ “Glittering lights” hosts a yearly military night, where military families get in free!

Our Experience, Likes, & Dislikes

We arrived to “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway around 6 p.m. and waited in a line of cars to get in the attraction for about an hour. The wait would’ve seemed longer if we hadn’t been waiting in the car, but since it’s a drive through experience the wait was entirely bearable. Since we are a military family, and we went to “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, on military night we were able to show an I.D and enter the drive thru light show free of charge. Just as last year, the people working the “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway entrance passed out peppermints, bags with coupons in them from sponsors, and offered attendees the opportunity to buy hot cocoa (so bring some change if you want to make a purchase)- I’ll also add that the workers were wearing face coverings so “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a COVID safe attraction to visit this holiday season.

Once we got through the checkpoint where you pay and etc. we waited about 5-10 more minutes to start driving through the “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, light show. It was at that point that Josiah began having the time of his life trying to look at and decipher every lit up reindeer, sea-life creature, dinosaur, and monster truck sign before we drove by it and onto the next section of the “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway experience. The set up of this Las Vegas Holiday attraction is rather simple and to the point while still being interesting to attendees. The tunnels you drive through are often times blanketed with multicolored and flickering Christmas lights both to the right and left of your vehicle and sometimes above you.

One of my favorite features, located at the very end of the “Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, light show is the Nativity Scene. I love that they added a Nativity Scene to the end of the Light Show because, it gives a nice little sprinkle of what this Holiday Season is really about.

“Glittering Lights” at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a pretty immersive experience. I will say that the only downside to doing a drive through Christmas Light show is that even though the vehicles aren’t going more than 5 mph, it doesn’t give people- and by people I mean little kids, much time to really soak it all in because by the time they process what they are seeing you’re already moving forward; and it’s hard to stop and take extra time, without backing up the rest of the line behind you.

Overall, the Las Vegas “Glittering Lights” show this year was nice. It seemed to be the same lights that they had last year, so I would want to see them change it up a bit and maybe add some new features. But, Josiah had the time of his life driving through the light show, since that’s the case I have zero complaints.

Las Vegas’ “Glittering Lights” and closes on January 10th 2021.
