Active Faith Is...

People have this misconception that the Christ-led journey is easy when in all honesty it’s far from it. Just like Christ, followers of Christ are the most persecuted and deal with unimaginable spiritual attacks.

' Lord , how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” ' Psalms 3:1-2

Over the last few years, I’ve been building my relationship with God, getting to know him through his word, crying out to him, and worshipping him. My biggest misstep throughout that process, I feel, is not sharing at least some of it here on the blog, because after all, that is what I created this blog for. However, I also feel like there is a type of beauty in the obscurity that came with just being alone with God in that timeframe.

I was able to let my guard down with him, I was able to be the most vulnerable version of myself which is something I could never do here or anywhere else because the Bible teaches us to guard our hearts; because not everything is meant to be shared the moment that it happens.

'Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. '

Proverbs 4:23

The work I’ve done to get to the place I am in Christ has asked more from me than I could ever imagine, but it’s also given me more. Not just physical or worldly things, but it’s given me peace, life, and perspective.

But, I still have work to do.

Following Christ, does not make me immune from the happenings of life. Things happen, we lose jobs, we lose loved ones, and we encounter unfortunate circumstances. Active Faith is understanding that walking with God is a daily walk. It’s a daily decision. It’s actively and intentionally applying the living word to every aspect of life. Even when it hurts. Even you’re scared. Even when you don’t know how it’s going to work out. Because the one thing you do know is God is not a liar. He is faithful, he is unchanging, he is unwavering in the grace and mercy that he pours out on his sons and daughters, and leaving his children out to pasture is not who is.

But in order to know who he is, you have to make the decision to actively seek him.

' “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. '

Matthew 7:7-8

'so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. '

Isaiah 55:11

The Christian walk is not about the lack of struggle or persecution, it’s about waking up every day, and choosing God through it all, because we know that there is nothing greater than him and that he will work all things out for our good.

Active Faith is the continual pursuit of relationship with God.

As always, thank you for reading. I’ll see you in the next blog.
